60 years ago, when Israel declared her independence, the fate of the Palestinians was also marked.  Israeli historian Ilan Pappe reconstructs 1948, but not as Israeli Independence. Instead, he focuses on the Palestinian narrative, named the Nakba, which means Catastrophe in English. It was a time of great violence as the Palestinian people were ethnically cleansed from their lands.

This symposium is an opportunity for students and community members to learn more about the Palestinian - Israeli Conflict by asking: Who are the Palestinians? What has happened to them? What are they saying they want? And how can our learning more lead towards peace with justice in Israel and Palestine?
